David Coleman, the Federal Member for Banks, is calling on the NSW Government to rule out proceeding with the radical Riverwood Plan.
The NSW Department of Family and Community Services’ Plan for Riverwood would see 6,000 new apartments built. The number of residents would increase from around 1,600 today to more than 9,600.
An increase in population of this scale would permanently change Riverwood and surrounding areas.
“For many years I have been opposing this radical Plan,” Mr Coleman said.
“It’s now time for the NSW Government to rule out proceeding with this project once and for all.”
“The ongoing uncertainty is having a negative impact on our community. This is a radical and inappropriate Plan and must not proceed.”
Results of a recent community survey conducted by Mr Coleman showed overwhelming community support for the Riverwood Plan to be withdrawn.
Mr Coleman has written to the NSW Minister Families, Communities and Disability Services, calling for the Plan to be withdrawn and to pass on the community survey results.
