MAJOR UPGRADES UNDERWAY AT HOME OF ST GEORGE NETBALL

Construction has begun on a major redevelopment of the netball facilities at the home of the St George District Netball Association in Rockdale.

The redevelopment includes the levelling and re-surfacing of the 15 courts at the facility and was funded through a $1 million grant from the Federal Government.

David Coleman MP, Federal Member for Banks, visited the Rockdale site to see the progress on the project and meet with representatives from St George Netball and Bayside Council.

“This work really needed to be done as the courts hadn’t been updated in decades,” Mr Coleman said.

“As the home of netball in the St George area, it’s important that the facilities at Rockdale are of high quality. The new courts will significantly improve the playing conditions for the netball community in St George.”

Vice President of the St George District Netball Association, Ms Lucy Smith, said that the Association is very excited that the netball court upgrades are underway.

“The upgrades are progressing well, and we look forward to the benefits that the new courts will bring to the 1,600 members of our netball community,” Ms Smith said.

The new courts are expected to be completed ahead of the 2021 season.
