David Coleman MP, Federal Member for Banks, announced that Kalib Brown from Budget Roofing in Padstow has won the 2021 Banks Apprentice of the Year Award.
Kalib works as a roof plumbing and carpentry apprentice and joined Budget Roofing after working in the fencing industry.
Kalib was nominated by Greg Beaven, Founder of Budget Roofing, who offered Kalib an opportunity to work in his team after Kalib wanted a change from the fencing industry but still wanted to pursue his studies.
“Kalib shows initiative in the workplace and is a quick thinker and a quick learner,” Mr Beaven said.
“He has great leadership and team building skills and is committed to improving his abilities.”
“Kalib plays cricket and football in his spare time, and is an active member of the local community. He is a very worthy recipient of this award,” Mr Beaven said.
This award was started in 2014 by Mr Coleman to recognise the valuable contributions that apprentices and trainees make in our local community.
“Apprentices and trainees do outstanding work in our community,” Mr Coleman said.
“This award provides recognition of this work and encourages continued participation in this industry.”
