David Coleman MP, the Federal Member for Banks was today sworn in by the Governor-General, Sir Peter Cosgrove, as the Assistant Minister for Finance.
The swearing-in ceremony was held at Government House in Canberra.
“It is a great honour to be given the responsibility of this role,” Mr Coleman said.
“I look forward to working closely with the Minister for Finance, Senator the Hon Mathias Cormann. As Assistant Minister I will be involved in a range of policy issues, focusing on policies that will underpin the ongoing strength of our economy. ”
The Department of Finance coordinates the annual Budget process and is the owner of many of the Government’s assets. It also plays a key role in managing issues across the public sector such as Government procurement and the efficiency of the public service.
