DAVID CALLS FOR ROAD SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS IN MORTDALE HEIGHTS

For many years Mortdale heights residents have been concerned about road safety along Roberts Avenue at its intersections with the “B” streets.

Roberts Avenue is an extremely busy throughfare and it is currently extremely difficult for residents to safely enter and exit the “B” streets.

David has conducted a community petition on this issue which had a substantial response from the community. However, Georges River Council has failed to take any steps to improve safety for residents entering Roberts Avenue from the “B” streets.

“Council’s response refers to the average speed on vehicles travelling along Robert Avenue which is between 46 and 54 kilometres per hour. Frankly, the speed of motorists isn’t the main issue, it is the volume of traffic and visibility at these intersection that risks the safety of residents”, David said.

“It is time for Georges River Council to take action to improve safety on Roberts Avenue”.

David held a community meeting on Mortdale Heights road safety this week, where residents again expressed their concerns about the safety of their families.
