I am continuing to call on the State Government to withdraw its radical Riverwood Plan.
Originally published in 2017, the State Government’s Riverwood Plan proposed to build high density residential buildings of up to 12 storeys in Riverwood.
I opposed the Riverwood Plan because it was completely wrong for our community and met with the former NSW Minister for Social Housing, Pru Goward, to express the opposition in our community to the Plan.
The Riverwood Plan was eventually withdrawn, however last year the State Government released a new version of the plan.
The new Riverwood Plan proposes to build an additional 2,900 dwellings in apartment blocks of up to 12 storeys in the Riverwood area. The proposal would increase the population of the area by more than 4,000 additional residents.
I remain opposed to the Riverwood Plan as the level of development proposed is still completely inappropriate for our area.
I’ve conducted a petition which has been signed by more than 2,000 local residents who oppose the Riverwood Plan and support my call for it to be withdrawn.
I have since met with NSW Minister for Housing, the Hon. Melinda Pavey, to pass on the results of the petition and the opposition in our community to the Riverwood Plan, and I will continue to call for its withdrawal.
