GRC PEAKHURST STUDENT WINS THE 2017 BANKS LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP

Kirsten Beccaris, a Year 10 student from Georges River College Peakhurst Campus, has been announced as the winner of the 2017 Banks Leadership Scholarship.

The Banks Leadership Scholarship was launched in 2013 by the Federal Member for Banks, David Coleman MP, and is given to the Year 10 student in Banks who displays the strongest combination of academic achievement, leadership, and community involvement.

“Kirsten is an outstanding student who deserves this Scholarship,” Mr Coleman said.

“Kirsten excels academically and has many awards highlighting her high levels of commitment and dedication to her studies”.

“Kirsten has a great record of service within her school and the community at large”.

“Throughout her time at GRC Peakhurst she has made a tremendous contribution to the school.  Kirsten has served on the Student Representative Council from years 7-10 and been involved in mentoring both new year 7 students as well as international exchange students.

In 2017 Kirsten was elected as School Captain by her peers and teachers.  As Captain she has represented the School at community events including a Remembrance Day ceremony at Club Rivers.

“Kirsten has also had a great involvement with St George Junior Baseball Club based at Lugarno, where she has given her time to train and mentor junior players.”

As winner of the Banks Junior Leadership Scholarship, Kirsten received a framed certificate, an Australian Flag, a Constitution of Australia booklet, lunch and guided tour with family in Parliament House, Canberra, $500 towards educational expenses and a $250 book voucher.
