For years, David Coleman, Federal Member for Banks has been calling on the Georges River Council to take action on road safety at the intersection of Roberts Avenue and the ‘B’ streets in Mortdale.
Mr Coleman has announced that if a Coalition Government is elected, $360,000 would be provided to address road safety on Roberts Avenue in Mortdale. Mr Coleman said that funding would be allocated in the 2025/26 financial year.
Hundreds of residents have signed David’s petitions and attended community meetings to address this issue.
Last year, Council submitted Roberts Avenue under the Federal Road Black Spot Program. However, the installation of a traffic calming device has been awaiting Federal funding.
“It is disappointing that this crucial road safety upgrade has taken so long. It is clear that a roundabout on Roberts Avenue would improve safety for local motorists when exiting and entering the ‘B’ Streets. This upgrade must go ahead for local residents,” Mr Coleman said.
