MILLION DOLLAR FUNDING BOOST FOR THE GEORGES RIVER

David Coleman, Federal Member for Banks, has announced that if elected, a Coalition Government would provide a $1 million investment to improve and enhance the Georges River and surrounding wetlands environment.

This commitment will focus on projects that improve the overall health of the river.

This builds on David’s previous work to support the Georges River environment including bush regeneration work at Evatt Park, Moore Reserve, and Poulton Park, green army projects at Lime Kiln Bay and Salt Pan Creek and pollutant traps to prevent rubbish from entering the Georges River.

“Over the years, we have been able to do a lot of work protecting the Georges River and its surrounding bushland, but there is always more work to be done,” Mr Coleman said.

“The Georges River is the jewel in the crown of our local environment and it is important that we continue to conserve and enhance the river and its surrounds,” Mr Coleman said.

“This investment will be very useful in improving our local environment and wetlands,” Mr Coleman said.
